Blogging A to Z: Futurama's Farnsworth

Welcome to the A to Z blogging challenge! All month long we'll be creating posts for each letter of the alphabet according to a theme. Click here to see the list of participating blogs.

My theme is Memorable Characters featuring characters from books, movies, and TV.

Professor Farnsworth

From: Futurama TV series (created by The Simpsons creator Matt Groening)

Known for: "Good news, everyone!", ridiculous inventions

Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth is a member of the crew on Futurama, who often complicates situation more than he helps. My favorite thing about the professor was when he was shown in a flashback as having created "the first robot to be capable of qualifying for a boat loan."

Are you a Futurama fan? Who is your favorite character?

  1. I can't say that I watch Futurama, but I've been meaning to. It's now added to my list.

  2. Is Futurama a book, comic, or TV show? The robot thing sounds funny, and I know I'd enjoy it. Let me know where to find it. I'm glad I joined as a follower to your blog.

    1. I just amended the post to note it's a TV series. It first aired on Fox in the early 2000s and then was cancelled. In later years Comedy Central brought it back. The series ended last year. It looks like the series is streaming on Neflix. There are some stand alone movie episodes too. The humor is similar to The Simpsons but maybe a little sillier.

  3. I miss it so much. I may have actually liked this more than the Simpsons.

  4. I've only watched an episode or two of Futurama and only in passing, but from what I've heard of it I might be binge watching it later on.

  5. I used to love Futurama! Farnsworth and his "good news/horrible news" lol. Also, wasn't he like 160 years old? I haven't seen the show in years but my father in law loves it. He even bought a Bender doll for his desk.

  7. Bahaha, I adore the Professor! I love his relationship with the other old professor dude ... jeez, I've forgotten his name. But they're hilarious together - he kind of reminds me of my grandpa, in a weird, sciencey way :)

  8. It's funny how his name has always made me think of Warehouse 13, ever since that show began, haha!
