Blogging A to Z: Dana Scully

Welcome to the A to Z blogging challenge! All month long we'll be creating posts for each letter of the alphabet according to a theme. Click here to see the list of participating blogs.

My theme is Memorable Characters featuring characters from books, movies, and TV.

Dana Scully

From: The X-Files

Known for: skepticism, medical skills/knowledge

Everyone's favorite FBI investigator into the paranormal! Dana Scully was hired to debunk Agent Fox Mulder's crazy theories on unsolved "X" file cases. Scully weathered a lot of bad hair and cheap suits throughout the years, but more noteworthy: her tireless pursuit of facts and evidence, putting up with Mulder, her dog Queequeg who disappeared in Quagmire (I am still sad about this!), her abduction (alien or goverment?) and in later years, mother to a baby with special powers.

Did you watch The X Files?

  1. Queequeg is a great name for a dog. Thanks for visiting my blog.

    1. Don't they say, never kill off the dog in movies and books? That should be a rule.

  2. Ahhh! Her moving head is making me dizzy!

I never saw the X-Files but it certainly sounds like Dana had an interesting part to play in it.

  3. Scully had a baby? Wow, the things you miss when you bail on a show. I think I quit after the first two seasons or so. Can't remember why.

    1. The final seasons are a real trainwreck with cast changes that never quite got off the ground (which is too bad b/c Robert Patrick was great, but the gaping hole left by Duchovny was not easily replaced). You don't even want to know the baby details, they are too ridiculous. The AV Club's TV Club is just winding up recaps on the final season, which is super interesting to read now that a decade (!) has passed since the show ended.

  4. My goodness, who didn't watch the X-Files? (Admittedly, they were a little too scary for me and I occasionally had to back out of the room, then turn on every light in the house.)

    1. Some episodes really are scary! Tooms from the first season is still super creepy. I just rewatched the series last year.

  5. I only saw a few episodes of The X-Files, but my SecondBorn has watched the entire run, and re-watches episodes (yay, Amazon Prime!). I don't know that she's a huge Scully fan, but she's definitely a fan of the show. :)

  6. A baby with special powers? How did I miss that? Spin-off! Btw, I'm now following your blog. I'm also a YA author and would love if you could do the same for me!

  11. What an awesome choice! Loved Scully back in the day, though I was too young to watch some of the more gruesome episodes, where I'm sure her kickass attitude came in handy ;)

  12. I didn't really watch X-Files, so she was kinda forgettable for me.

  13. I've never watched a single episode of X-Files. I haven't deliberately avoided watching it, just somehow never got around it. My sister is a huge fan, though.

  14. I love the idea, and have seen every episode of the X-Files.

I have some friends who are also doing characters, but they're doing comics characters, or maybe a combination of comics and lit characters.
