Mr. Robot on USA, Hulu: the hubz saw this early on Hulu and sort of freaked out. It's basically Chosen One wish fulfillment for the Reddit crowd, where a socially inept hacker is discovered and offered the opportunity to start a revolution. Bonus: person of color lead, artistic filmmaking, and a show that takes its time with a highly introverted main character.
What I love most about this book is the pacing. The action starts from the very first page, and even with action slows down, there is always an underlying tension since the family is on the run, It's not a book that stops to explain very often, so you have to just go with it and trust that the details will be revealed as the story progresses.
In a new town and new school once again, Tessa is conflicted about letting herself get close to a boy she meets on the running trail near her house. While her older sister flirts and dates without shame, she's seen the heartbreak it caused when their family had to flee. Tessa's identity changes frequently due to her family relocating whenever the mysterious man hunting her family gets close to finding them, all due to Tessa's family's psychic and telekinetic abilities. All abilities Tessa doesn't have herself. There are no goodbyes in their world. Only new identities, hotels and rental homes paid in cash, and fires set to their old belongings.
Only this time is different. Tristan is trustworthy--it's just Tessa can't tell her family that. Soon she discovers trusting Tristan was a huge mistake. Or, is it her own family she put her faith in who have failed her most?
So many twists here! I recommend this for a fast paced, suspenseful read.
